CrypGuard Genesis - Setup Guide

PHASE 01

Invite the Bot

Click the invite link above and authorize CrypGuard for your server

STEP 1

Select Your Server

After clicking the invite link, Discord opens the authorization page. Use the dropdown menu to select which server you want to protect. If you manage multiple servers, make sure you pick the right one.

You need Manage Server permission to add bots. If you don't see your server in the dropdown, ask the server owner to grant you this permission.

STEP 2

Review Permissions

CrypGuard requests only the minimum permissions needed to protect your server. No admin access. No ban/kick abilities. No server management powers.

STEP 3

Authorization Complete

Click Authorize and you'll see the success confirmation. CrypGuard is now connected to your server. You can close this browser tab.

CrypGuard is now in your server. Check your Discord — you should see a DM notification from the bot.

PHASE 02

Welcome Message

CrypGuard sends you a private DM with setup instructions

STEP 4

Check Your DMs

Switch back to Discord. You'll see a Direct Message from CrypGuard Genesis containing two messages: a welcome message with your beta tester status, and detailed setup instructions.

Your Personal Setup Guide

The DM contains everything you need: your beta tester number, what you get during the free beta period, what happens after beta ends, and the exact steps to create your secure alert channel. Follow along below — we'll walk through each step.

PHASE 03

Create Your Alert Channel

Set up the private channel where CrypGuard sends threat intelligence

STEP 6

Create a Private Text Channel

Right-click "Text Channels" in your server sidebar and click "Create Channel". This will be your security command center — where all threat alerts are delivered.

Select Text as channel type
Name it exactly:

Toggle Private Channel to ON
Click Next

The channel must be private. Threat reports contain scammer identities, confidence scores, and forensic data — this is for your staff's eyes only.

STEP 7

Grant Bot Access

After clicking Next, Discord asks who can access this private channel. You need to add both of these:

CrypGuard Genesis Security Bot — found under Roles
CrypGuard Genesis [APP] — found under Members

Why both? Your private channel blocks everyone by default. The Role gives normal access. The [APP] is a backup that guarantees CrypGuard can always deliver alerts. We only access this one channel — nothing else.

STEP 8 — WHEN TO EXCLUDE

Setup Excluded Channels

Channels managed by trusted bots or tools can trigger false positives with words like "guaranteed returns", "connect your wallet", or domain links. Exclude them now to keep your alerts clean from day one.

Good candidates:

#financial-news — Automated news bot posting price targets
#scam-reports — Admin examples of scams (contains scam language by design)
#price-alerts — Price bot sending "target reached" notifications
#announcements — If only admins post and content is pre-approved

Important: Only exclude channels you fully control. When in doubt, leave it scanning.

STEP 8 — HOW TO EXCLUDE

Exclusion Commands

Run these in your #crypguard-alerts channel (admin only):

Type !exclude #channel-name and press Enter
CrypGuard confirms instantly — scanning stops immediately
To exclude another, run the command again — one at a time
To see all excluded: !excluded
To re-enable scanning: !unexclude #channel-name

Exclusions are saved permanently. They survive bot restarts and are removed automatically if you remove CrypGuard.

STEP 9 — SENTRY PRO

Direct Support Bridge

Sentry Pro feature. Get a private, direct line to the CrypGuard security team — right inside your server. No more leaving your server to open tickets, no ping-pong between Discords. Just type and we respond.

Create a new private channel named:

Make it private — visible only to admins and CrypGuard
Add both CrypGuard Genesis Security Bot (Role) and CrypGuard Genesis [APP] (Member)

CrypGuard automatically detects this channel and creates a secure bridge to our command center. Your messages arrive instantly on our desk — and our replies appear right back in your channel. Everything stays private and GDPR-compliant. If you remove the bot, all support data is automatically deleted.

STEP 10 — OPTIONAL

Account Watch Channel

Sentry Pro feature. Scammers almost always use brand-new burner accounts. CrypGuard can quietly notify your admin team whenever a very new account joins — before they've even sent a message.

Create a new private channel named:

Add both CrypGuard Genesis Security Bot (Role) and CrypGuard Genesis [APP] (Member)

CrypGuard automatically detects this channel and posts informational alerts: 🔴 Under 10 days old (higher risk) and 🟠 10–29 days old (worth watching). Accounts 30+ days old join silently. These are not scam alerts — purely informational.

STEP 11 — CREATE TEST CHANNEL

Set Up a Test Channel

Create a private channel for testing:

Add both CrypGuard Genesis Security Bot (Role) and CrypGuard Genesis [APP] (Member)
Invite an alt account or a trusted non-admin member

Important: Staff and admin messages are automatically skipped by CrypGuard — the test must come from a regular member without management permissions.

Note: You can test in any text channel you want — a dedicated test channel just avoids alarming your members if they see alerts for the first time. After you've confirmed everything works, feel free to delete it.

STEP 11 — SEND TEST MESSAGE

Trigger a Detection

Visit crypguard.com/live-demo — 25 real scam scenarios across all detection systems. Each one includes the actual scam message, which Shield catches it, the confidence score, and a copy button.

Pick any scenario that matches the kind of scams your server faces (crypto pump, fake airdrop, phishing URL, fake support, malware file, etc.) and copy the message. Send it from the alt account in #bot-test.

CrypGuard analyzes it in real time — everyone in that channel sees the public alert immediately with the threat type, who triggered it, and a direct message to the suspect.

STEP 12

Reveal Full Analysis

Hit the ⚡ REVEAL FULL ANALYSIS 🎯 SCAMMER TACTICS EXPOSED button — only you see the result (private to the clicker). Full forensic breakdown: how the specific attack works, what to look out for, and how to protect yourself.

The detailed admin report with forensic data goes to your private #crypguard-alerts channel — staff eyes only.

STEP 13

Check Your Admin Report

Head to #crypguard-alerts — your private forensic report with confidence scores, which Shield caught it, and full threat intelligence.

No alert? Check that you added both the Role AND [APP] to the #crypguard-alerts channel permissions. During beta, you get full Sentry Pro access free — all detectors active, no limits.

STEP 14

Generate Trust & Safety Reports

Need to report a scammer to Discord? Use !report-scammer <user_id> in your alerts channel. CrypGuard generates a complete Discord Trust & Safety Evidence Report — formatted and ready to submit, with message permalinks, detection history, and compliance notices.

PHASE 05 — FINAL

Announce to Your Members

Let your community know they're protected before they see their first alert.

Why Announce First

Do this before going live. The first time CrypGuard flags a message in your public channels, your members will see an alert they've never seen before. Without context, they won't know what it is or how to react.

The !announce command posts a professional security embed that prepares your community:

Terminal-style status readout — system online, shields active
What alerts look like — red for threats, yellow for investigation
A warning to scammers — "you will be detected"
Community guidelines — don't engage, ignore scam DMs, contact mods

Requires: Manage Server permission. The command message deletes itself — only the clean embed with the bot's avatar remains.

STEP 15 — HOW TO ANNOUNCE

Run the Command

Run !announce in your announcements or general channel — whichever has the most visibility. CrypGuard posts a polished security embed and deletes your command message automatically.

Tip: Post this in your most active public channel so every member sees it. It sets expectations and deters scammers from even trying.

You're done! CrypGuard is now fully operational. Your server is protected 24/7 — every message scanned in real time, every threat flagged automatically.

Staff Protection

How CrypGuard handles admin and moderator messages.

AUTOMATIC

Staff Messages Are Never Scanned

CrypGuard automatically skips messages from anyone with server management permissions. This prevents false positives when your team discusses scams, writes rules, or handles reports.

Permissions that bypass scanning:

Administrator — Full server control
Manage Server — Server settings access
Manage Roles — Role management
Kick Members — Moderation permission
Ban Members — Moderation permission

Important: If a staff account is compromised, CrypGuard will not flag their messages. We strongly recommend enabling 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) for all staff accounts.

No configuration needed — this works automatically the moment CrypGuard is added. Any member with at least one of the above permissions is trusted by default.
